The Wilson

The Wilson, Cheltenham’s award winning art gallery and museum, houses an internationally significant museum collection of exceptional quality and variety, including changing displays of our Designated Arts and Crafts Movement collection, our fine art collections, and The Paper Store,  which houses our fascinating archives relating to Antarctic explorer Edward A. Wilson, Cheltenham’s history and the Emery Walker Library.

 Our temporary gallery spaces offer an exciting programme of changing exhibitions . The varied programme is of the highest quality and is designed to offer something for everyone.

 We also offer a diverse range of events, workshops, courses for adults and children and a well-established schools programme.

 Don’t miss The Wilson Shop, where a tempting array of gifts, souvenirs, books, stationery and children’s gifts and pocket money toys awaits.

The Wilson is also home to Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre, offering friendly tourist advice and accommodation & transport booking services.

Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre
The Tourist Information Centre is now located on the ground floor of The Wilson – where you can find out what's on, where to stay and where to go in the wider Gloucestershire and Cotswolds area – and at the same time as enjoying what the new galleries and facilities have to offer.

The Guild at 51
The Guild at 51 is the new shop from the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, whose members continue to produce contemporary craft in the tradition of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Founded in 1933, the Guild seeks to promote the work of its skilled makers and offers a year long programme of workshops, talks and exhibitions in partnership with The Wilson.

The Wilson Café
The Gallery café-bistro on a ground floor of Clarence Street serves delicious eats from breakfast to light lunches, home-baked cakes and speciality roasted coffee and House of Bath teas. The de Ferrieres Gallery is also available to hire for meetings, functions and events.

Open Monday – Wednesday / Friday – Saturday 9.30am – 5.15pm. Thursday 9.30am – 7.45pm. Sunday 11am – 4pm.
(Closed on 25 & 26 December, 1 January and Easter Sunday)
