Freelance School Workshop Leader
£17.50 per hour
The Cheltenham Trust is looking for School
Workshop Leaders to assist the delivery of the popular learning programme at
The Wilson. This role will support the
delivery of history and art topics both on site at The Wilson and off site in
schools. History workshops are delivered to school groups of Key Stages 1 – 4
and vary in historical content from Stone Age through to early Twentieth
Century. The learning programme at the art gallery and museum takes full
advantage of the rich collections held by The Wilson, plus a handling
collection as part of the Museum Takeaway, a museum loans service.
This role is ad hoc in nature depending on
schools bookings but the right candidate may be asked to deliver up to two
sessions a week.
Full training of the learning programme
will be provided and freelance staff will be monitored and regularly evaluated.
The School Workshop leader will be trained
by the Formal Learning Team Leader at The Wilson but candidates will be
expected to come with a solid understanding of British history.

to be flexible and able to
adapt to different locations when delivering out at schools

boxes as well as have a driving licence
the ability to evaluate their
own teaching practice and develop practice accordingly
the ability to communicate
effectively with the Learning Team Leaders
to prepare resources for
sessions where needed
a formal teaching qualification
working knowledge of the

British history and the various related topics, particularly to Primary School

The Wilson is currently looking for new volunteers to support our visitor services team. Visitor Services Volunteers We are looking for a group of enthusiastic, friendly, professionally-minded people who are able to support our busy and dynamic front of house team.
Two types of volunteer role are available: 'meet and greet' team members, who welcome our visitors to The Wilson on the ground floor; and gallery-based volunteers, who assist our permanent staff to invigilate exhibitions and engage with visitors within the gallery areas.
We really value the dedication and commitment of our volunteers, and are looking forward to welcoming new volunteer members to our close-knit visitor services team.
