The First World War collections at the Wilson

2014 marks 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War. Considered to be “the war to end all wars” it lasted four years and cost the lives of millions.

Events were held by organisations across Gloucestershire as part of the Gloucestershire Remembers WW1 project.

The Wilson museum displayed a number of objects from its First World War collection in the popular Paper Store gallery, including scrapbooks, postcards, letters and objects from the period. These items provide insight into the First World War and the effect on Cheltenham and its residents
