Paint a Plate

Be inspired by our wonderful collection of ceramics and decorate a china plate or tile to take home with you.
A drop-in family event (Children must be accompanied by an adult)
Pay on the day £2 per plate or tile.

Creative Crazy Science

How can you make a rocket, slime and much more out of ingredients you might find in your kitchen cupboard? Fun for all the family in this exciting science workshop, run by ‘Creative Kids’ company.

Identity Parade
Every Wednesday - 2 - 5pm
Bring in your mystery objects, from household items to paintings (and last Wednesday in May and June, archaeology) and we'll try to help you find out more about them. If we can't help - we're sure to know someone who can. Sorry, no valuations.

Come and enjoy our extensive
collection of superb Chinese objects and meet new people with shared interests. Tickets will pay for Chinese food and drinks, ice-breaking games and a Tai Ch’i workshop.

Virtuous Cycle Saturday
26 July from 2.30pm onwards
Join us as we celebrate the vintage motorcycle and its devoted band of riders.
2.30pm Vintage ‘Ride-in’. Feel the buzz as motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the South West descend on the Art Gallery & Museum.
4pm Sit back and enjoy the ride as we screen motorcycling classic No Limit starring George Formby.
Sweet Dreams
In association with the Cheltenham Science Festival.

Sleepless in St Mark's or Wakeful in Whaddon? Make good use of your whirring night-time brain creating masks inspired by sleep and dreams with Science Festival favourite, Dr Lizzie Burns. Biochemist-turned-visual artist Lizzie will lead the workshop, explaining what happens in our brains when we do manage to drop off. The masks willl be on public display throughout the Science Festival in June, and returned to participants afterwards.(Please note time - this is an event for night owls!)
Third Thursdays
On the third Thursday of every month we stay open until 8pm - so you can enjoy a light supper in the café and
a twilight visit to the galleries.

to see the Art Gallery & Museum's collection of historic quilts, a must for anyone interested in patchwork and embroidery (on view from 5pm).
A curator will be on hand to tell you more about those that catch your eye.
