Geometry of Fear
7 June – 19 July
Art historian Herbert Read coined the phrase ‘geometry of fear’ when describing the angst- ridden post war sculpture of Lynn Chadwick, Eduardo Paolozzi and Kenneth Armitage, shown at the 1952 Venice Biennale. These powerful works gave British sculpture an international footing.
Focusing on a small selection of sculpture and drawings, this exhibition demonstrates their continuing power, conveying the effect of the aftermath of the Second World War.
This touring exhibition from the John Soane Museum in London shows a selection of watercolours, illustrations and other related material which demonstrates the splendour of Georgian architecture and tells the fascinating story of the Adam brothers.
