Vaulting Ambition:
The Adam Brothers : contractors to the metropolis in the reign of George III

19 APR – 24 MAY

In 1788 King George III and Queen Charlotte came to Cheltenham to take the waters thus making it a fashionable place. Twenty years earlier the four Adam brothers (best known is Robert) were making a name for themselves in London with the Adelphi development, in the Strand.

This touring exhibition from the John Soane Museum in London shows a selection of watercolours, illustrations and other related material which demonstrates the splendour of Georgian architecture and tells the fascinating story of the Adam brothers.
