Pedals to Petrol: The evolution of the motorcycle, 1900-30

26 July – 30 August

Original motorcycles from local collectors tell the story of how the bicycle became motorised during the early 20th century. The first attempts to make this happen occurred in Gloucester with JE Smith’s motor unit which he attached to an ordinary bicycle in 1910. Film and sound add vibrancy and reveal what it was like to ride these early motorcycles.
