Votes For Women

On 6th February 1918, Parliament passed the Representation of the People Act, for the first time permitting women who met minimum property qualifications to vote, and all men. This led to further progress in 1928, when all women received the same rights as men and were able to vote if they were over the age of 21.

The works in this exhibition have been selected from a call out to local artists who were invited to respond to this momentous event.
