Polina concentrates on the eponymous heroine, who is determined to be a Bolshoi dancer. Her parents are devastated when she announces her imminent departure for France to discover a more visceral and grounded form of dance under the stern tutelage of Juliette Binoche. The film is superbly choreographed by husband and wife team Valérie Müller and Angelin Preljocaj.
