Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museums Baron de Ferrieres Collection
This publication covers the Baron de Ferrieres Collection at The Wilson, presented to the gallery in 1898. The collection is of considerable importance in the history of taste as it accurately reflects those artists much esteemed by continental mid-19th century colectors. The Collection is especially rich in Dutch seventeeth century paintings (for example Gerrit Dou, Gabriel Metsu, Jan Steen and Adriaen van Ostade) and in Dutch and Belgium nineteeth century works (for instance Barend Cornelius Koekkoek, Cornelius Springer, Andreas Schelfhout, and Baron Leys). Compiled by Christopher Wright, published in 1988.
